As I've mentioned before, I've been very impressed with the blog "The Social Customer Manifesto" that is run by Cerado's President and forward thinker Chris Carfi. Impressed enough to want to get to know him and I have. In the course of a very recent conversation, he mentioned his long time significant other - Lisa Stone - was a prominent blogger too and had a blog "Surfette" that focused on both women's issues and legal issues. He also mentioned that most of the focus in the world of blogging was on male blogs and that she had organized a conference with a couple of other organizers on women and blogging called "The BlogHer" that was supposed to take place in Santa Clara this weekend. And that it had been booked solid. Which was (and is) very, very cool.
So, I'm sitting in my hotel room in San Francisco - here because of a consulting thing with one of my clients - and a wedding - and I'm reading the Saturday San Francisco Chronicle - and here is a front page article on BlogHer that I would recommend you read - so you can get a feel for the power of this conference. There are 300 registrants - the maximum possible - attending workshops, discussions, community building events. Many of them are from outside San Francisco - even from Europe. From reading the article, I get a feeling that it doesn't really do the conference justice because you can get a "feel" for the underlying dynamics going on at this event and the power of its effort, but the article doesn't really give you an overt sense of it - at least not enough. But it is a front page article that tells you of the revolutionary relationships that are altering the social and business landscape forever. Lisa Stone, Elisa Camahort, and Jory DesJardins - way to go. Way to Go.
You should get to know Renee Blodgett also - http://www.downtheavenue.com/
